As choosing a hosting i would say uptime,affordability, customer sevice availability, and customization options are all very important factors to consider.
As for domain name,my tips on that is ,short ,short domain names are easier to remember,easy to pronounce and understand,easy to spell ,easy to your customer to remember.

Better separate domain name registration and buying web hosting services

I agree with Sibername. It's better if you register your domain name directly from the registrars instead of getting it from the hosting providers. It can always get messy later if you wanna transfer your hosting service. Just be little cautious and check the host's policy if you really want to get the domain name from the hosting company, though!
