I think the best solution for an online store is the IXXO Cart it´s pretty good and easy and is also available as joomla component.

I recomend WHMCS i use it the only problem is it cost $15.95USD a month but if you have a few cliens thats a easy cover but yes it is very nice i am very satisfied with it.

Try zencart, the two sites in my sig are both zencarts. The software is open source - although when you see how good it is you'll want to contribute something i'm sure - and the community forums are top notch.

It's quite hard to tel which store builder is "best" since it may depend on your exact needs. What are the cons of ashop, in your opinion?

My own ecommerce software choice is X-Cart. Their new version, 4.2, is filled with many decent features. Perhaps you might look at their demo and see if it will work for you.
